What is the likely putty on this light wire/housing interface?

The power supply to my light shows no damage but the plastic that abuts the housing certainly doesn't look water tight.

Is this putty a good idea? Look at Time = 1:00.

I don't have a light in my pool so I can't honestly answer but someone who knows will be along to help you.

The putty on the light housing in the video is factory installed. You should not use putty on a light housing to seal it. They are not field reparable. If it leaks the light housing (or the entire light) should be replaced.

Actually, I've repaired/replaced over 200 lights in my career and have never seen a new light with epoxy putty on it. Also, you would NEVER do a pol light repair without replacing the lense gasket. That video was not correct as to procedure. Any light that I have opened with moisture in it Would be replaced.

I will second that the epoxy in the video is not factory installed. If your fixture is leaking from the cord, best bet is to replace.
