We just had our pool remodel finished last week. New vinyl liner and had water trucked in. Tested using my kit at home the other day and had CYA = 0. Pool stored tested it as well and said CYA= 2ppm.
So I went to Wally World and bought Stabalizer/Conditioner, brand HTH. Says it is 96% CYA. I have a 20,000 gal pool. Yesterday, I added 8 lbs of the stuff using socks in front of returns method. Today I tested my CYA and it appears to be at 100ppm!!! Which is crazy because according to the instructions of the HTH product, 8 lbs should only have raised my CYA to 40-50ppm maximum.
Is the CYA test that subjective that my CYA is probably much lower than 100ppm? or are the HTH product directions that far off? Based on pool calc, I would have expected the CYA to go no higher than 50ppm.
