My First TFT test

k havent changed settings or chemicals since 5/30

6/2 @ 930pm FC = 1.5 (@ the usual 1-2foot depth, at end of filter 3 hour cycle), filter/etc is off now

i'll check again in AM, but since the water wont be moving much... how deep a sample should i get ?, and how many hours is sufficient to retest?

chemicals added 3-4 days ago, jug bleach WM brand, bakin soda, CYA
i think pool calc works :)

ph 7.6 [swg goal 7.2-7.8]
FC 4 [swg goal 1-3]
CC 0.5
TA 100 [swg goal 80-120]
CYA 50 [swg goal 50-75]
CH 250 [swg goal 150-400]

should i get more cya in there ?

I would do the following:

Test to make sure FC is at 4-6.
Immediately turn on SWG to its max setting for a day.
Retest after 24h at this setting.

If FC is too high which it hopefully will be then
Turn off SWG and wait for FC to come back to 4-6.
Try a lower setting.
After 24h retest.

Repeat until you stay at 4-6 without bleach additions.

i borated my pool recently so i'll include that

borate ~50
ph 7.4 (stay... shhh....)
cl 7
CH 350
TA 140
CYA ~70
Na 3200

my concerns
- is the TA/CH high ? (
- how does tap water change the chemistry?

The TA is a little high but if your PH is stable then leave it. If your PH risen then adding avid to lower the PH will slowly lower the TA. Or you can lower it faster with this, Pool School - Lower Total Alkalinity

CH is fine.

Tap water can change TA, CH and/or PH. My tap water has high TA. If your tap has 200 or 300 CH then your CH will slowly climb because water evaporates and leave CH behind.
