Bleach Prices 2015

My store has htv chlorine 2 gallon box for 6.50 is this cheaper or worth the extra change to buy liquid chlorine compared to bleach

Need to know the concentration in the liquid chlorine to compare...
If 10% - $6.50/2/128/.1 = $0.254 per oz chlorine
if 12.5%-$6.50/2/128/.125 = $0.203 per oz chlorine

Most jugs of bleach in stores are now 8.25% but you must verify this. If the jug size is 121oz and 8.25%, all you have to do is divide the price of a single jug by 10 and you'll know how much your paying per oz of chlorine.
$2.97 for 121oz of 8.25% = $0.2970 per oz chlorine
$3.25 for 121oz of 8.25% = $0.3250 per oz chlorine

Using the proper calculation:
$2.97/121/.0825 = $0.29752 per oz chlorine
$3.25/121/.0825 = $0.32556 per oz chlorine

The numbers are so close using the proper calculation to the simple *divide by 10* method that you may as well divide by ten when dealing with jugs of 121oz 8.25% bleach. This divide by 10 only works if the jug is exactly 121oz and 8.25%.

Save a link to my calculator (see my signature) on your phone's browser if you need help calculating the price per oz for other jug sizes/concentrations when you're out shopping.

OSJLhas been selling gallon jug chlorine for $2.99 for at least three years now. It's away 12.5% and always fresh. They source their chlorine from a least three different manufacture that I have seen:

Pool Tech Shock from James Austins Company, Mars PA.
Diamond Clear Mega Shock from Amco Inc, Woonsocket RI
Super Shock from H.Krevit & company, New Haven CT.

I 've been to OSJL three time this year to buy chlorine and each time the had a different brand in stock

Regarding date lot codes, for the Pool Tech product the cases that are marked for "case sale" have the date code marked on the box and no markings on the gallon jugs. They also have cases with no date code markings on the box, but the jug are marked. These are supposedly for individual bottle sales. Amco doesn't date code their Diamond Clear Megashock at all. I confirmed this via an email to them. They said that their product is on OSJL floor within a few days of manufacture. Super Shock marking is on the gallon jugs only,

HEB Austin, Clorox 121oz = $2.84 this week. One of the better deals here.
Must scan in store coupon per the number of bottles bought, just picked up 5 no problem.

That's $0.284 / oz of chlorine.

Atwoods has a much better deal if your stores carry it in Austin.
Waco is closest store to Austin. Too far to save a few cents. No one sells bleach or liquid Shock in Texas as cheap as in Florida. Ace at $2.50/g once a year is best we get here.

Can anyone in DFW beat $0.29 per oz/chlorine? I've been around and Lowes is the best deal I've found ($3.78/128oz @ 10%).

Nobody has ever submitted a good price to my webpage within a 150 mile radius of zip 75235. Ace Hardware Memorial Day sale is the only time you might get a good deal ($0.20/oz chlorine), you have to find the part# on the acehardware.com ad and ask your local Ace to order it. That's a year away though.

You might call Univar and ask if they they know of a client in the DFW area that resells to the public.

I went to the HASA distributor by my house. It's called NW Pool & Spa. It's on the SW corner of 59th Ave and Cactus. I received a coupon for buy 3 get 1 free. There was a $6 refundable deposit. The cost was $9.75 for 4 gallons (.152 if it's only 12.5%). I asked the woman about the strength. She said they sell LOTS, and that the concentration at the time of delivery is 17% so she assured me that I was probably getting more than the MSDS 12.5% strength. She said that once added to their email list, that I'd get a coupon every week, and for all practical purposes the $9.75 for 4 gallons is really the everyday price because I'll get a steady stream of coupons. They even have a dolly handy to cart the stuff to your car.
