Crisco in gunite pool

The best thing really is going to be mechanical clean up.

Crisco grease is not going to break down very easily with chemicals.

Perhaps the enzymes will work better since they are designed for this, but based on what I have found with crisco, it is just wierd when mixed with water, especially when it gets really old. It turns into something that won't even come off your hands with 409 or dishwashing detergent. Yuk!

When I want a good skim off the top, I'll stick a length of 1 1/2 inch pvc into the skimmer intake pipe with the basket removed of course. The end of the pipe sits about 2" down from the water level and creates a good vortex and sucks the Crud off the top. Play with the length a bit so it does not suck too much air.

The overfilling idea sounds like the best option to me. It will be out of the pool but in the flowerbed........
