Coolest things you've found in your skimmer

My daughter found another yellow spotted salamander in the pool today.

Nothing cool in the skimmers, but I did get a picture of this little jumping spider eating another spider.


That's my best defense against brown recluses; a spider that will eat them. I wish I could get more jumping spiders to move into my garage.

1 Baby snake (5 or 6 inch) dead,
a few Blue tailed skink (salamander family) I saved 2 of them,
lots of spiders, beetles and other insects,
3 baby field mice all dead,
1 cow ant (non-flying wasp with bad sting) the only thing i killed on purpose.

Easily hundreds of frogs and toads, I've learned that if I empty the skimmer basket early most frogs are still alive. Our 1st summer we were not living at the house yet and by the time I got out there and then remembered to check the skimmer basket...well, I still have nightmares.
I'm happy to report that nowadays most of our frogs do get out alive!!!

Did have something crazy in my pool for a bit. Turned out to just be my mother-in-law. We do refer to her as the "old bat", so I guess that qualifies.....

I sometimes have these weird turtle head looking frogs. Never seen anything like them. Big fat rolly polly necks like a turtle.
