Can an old ortega valve be replaced with a jandy check valve??

Basically I have replumbed the pump station

You can use whatever check valve you like.

I can not really tell what is going on in that picture though.

I reconnected the drain and disconnected the ruined solar heating, I am still getting air, though not much. I recently discovered an inground "ortega"valve between the pool and the pump station. When I opened it up I noticed several obviously broken pieces, inside of the valve. My question is this, can I replace the valve with a new jandy check valve, instead of trying to track down the guts for the old one?

What line was the ortega on? There is rarely a need for any check valves if you do not have solar. And I certainly would not put it underground.

It was difficult to tell what was going on standing in front of it!! The site wouldn't let me attach both the before & after pics on the post for some reason. The next pic is the re-plumb
