8” PVC Hydrostatic Drain

Hi All,
Last Year, I’ve put in a fiberglass pool. In the deep end, there is a 8” pvc pipe installed which is accessible on our decking. It looks like another slimmer cover

I believe that this is for hydrostatic pressure. My question is do I need to drain water from under my pool each time it rains and the water level is high in the pipe? Or do I only need to worry if I drain the pool. Just don’t want any pressureto pop my pool out of the ground

sorry if this is posted in wrong thread. I’m new and Wasn’t sure where this post should be submitted.

Welcome to TFP.

That sounds like a sump pit that was installed to drain water from around the pool shell when it is empty. The weight of water in the pool will hold the shell down when full.

Put a pump in the pit if you ever need to drain the pool.

I have one as well. My understanding is exactly what ajw22 said. I have never had to use it - do you see water coming out of it, or is this just a general question?

Thanks for you responses. No water coming out of it. Just noticed after a heavy full day of rain, the water was about 2 feet from the top. I was concerned after hearing stories of pools popping out of the ground. I wasn’t sure if I should be pumping water from this drain even if the pool is full.
