    Trichlor\Dichlor - CYA Increases

Sorry, can't remember, which increases CYA more quickly? And assuming you were using four sticks at any given time (two in each skimmer basket), what kind of CYA increases would you expect over what period of time?

    Thanks!

    Re: Trichlor\Dichlor - CYA Increases

Dichlor increases CYA more quickly than Trichlor for the same chlorine amount. The chemical rules that are independent of concentration of product are as follows:

For every 10 ppm Free Chlorine (FC) added by Trichlor, it also increases Cyanuric Acid (CYA) by 6 ppm.
For every 10 ppm FC added by Dichlor, it also increases CYA by 9 ppm.
For every 10 ppm FC added by Cal-Hypo, it also increases Calcium Hardness (CH) by 7 ppm.

I don't know the weight of the BioGuard Smart Sticks so can't tell you how much each will increase CYA. I can tell you that one pound (16 ounces weight) of Trichlor in 25,000 gallons will increase the FC by 4.4 ppm and the CYA by 2.7 ppm.
