How to add calcium chloride

So I have read two different ways to add calcium chloride. 1. Mix it in a bucket with water, but watch out that it doesn't, melt the bucket. 2. Put it straight into the pool, but be careful that it doesn't leave calcium deposits. Help! Advice please. Thanks

Calcium products should be spread across the surface of the deep end of the pool.

Be sure to brush immediately, and thoroughly, if you broadcast calcium chloride. Have a brush ready as calcium chloride can harden very quickly on the bottom of the pool, especially if it's cold.
