I was wondering if our older pool has an issue as there is no drain in the floor? It has a vinyl liner and a single skimmer in the pool wall. The pool came with the house that we purchased and I am used to seeing a drain in the floor of residential pools or do vinyl lined pools normally only have wall skimmers? Hope you are able to have a Happy 4th of July!

Not uncommon to not have a drain in a vinyl pool. Point one of the returns downward at the deep end to help circulate the water and eliminate the temperature stratification.
These things seem to go through cycles of popularity, my pool has only 2 returns and one skimmer, which was a very common design when it was built 30+ years ago, at the time there were lots of concerns with entrapment in floor drains (something that is again in the news in recent years)
