Same thing happened to me. Check out my attached pic. Since I bought it less than 3 years ago, they're giving me a discount on a new cell & cord, but it's still $400. Not sure I should invest in it if this is a common occurrence. That plastic globe used to be see through.
I had the same problem with mine - They finally replaced it with the new CPX48 - much better design - Still cost me $350 but now I have a new 2 year warranty.
