When I moved into this house I was sort of thrown into learning pool maintenance.....we had one as a kid, my grandparents have had one, but now it was my time to own one. My Grandparents had a Sand Filter, my parents had a DE Filter, and I got a Cartridge filter.
It's a Hayward Missile type pump and it seems every year I when trying to remove the top, or placing it away for the year or bringing it out for the season I always ONCE stick my hand on a part that releases tiny fiberglass shards into my hands.
Nothing seems to be broken on the unit, nothing looks like its deteriorating, and it only seems to happen if I touch the middle section of the top portion of my missile.
Is there anything that can be done short of "don't touch that spot" to prevent the shards?
Thanks!
