Big thanks from a new first time pool owner!

Just wanted to express my appreciation for this site and all the knowledge everyone has taken the time to document and share. Bought our new home in march, first time having a pool. Opened up to what looked like a mess. Now we are happily through the shock process with wonderful looking water. Bottom needs some vacuuming. But I needed a new hose and the doughboy port adapter so suction with the vacuum stunk the first 2 tries.

Current numbers with Taylor 2006k:
FC: 6.5
CC: 0
CYA: 40
TA: 100
CH: 220
PH: 7.4

Need to pickup more borax ;-) never seen a pool with water this clear and no chlorine smell! Thanks again

Your ph looks fine...unless you are talking about adding 50 ppm borates? If so, then I would get your TA down to <80 ppm first.

The recommended levels in pool school says pH 7.5 to 7.8 so I was going by that. Is there a different range I should be shooting for?

pH anywhere in the 7's is acceptable with 7.5 - 7.8 perhaps being the sweet spot. Don't change your pH....it'll likely go up a bit on it's own in time.
