Any type of system better?

Hi,

I'm going to be installing an above ground pool next summer, and was considering going with a salt water system.

Are there any manufacturers to lean towards or stay away from?

Thanks for your help,
Eric

I'm happy with my Compupool system. That being said.
Make sure you get a system 2 to 3 times your pool size. Why you ask? The daily output is based upon 24 hour operation (pump running). If your pump isn't running then it's not producing. Most people don't run their pumps 24 hours. Some 12 hours, some 8 or less. So you need to produce your daily usage (more chlorine) in the run time.

Daily usage is based upon several factors, CYA level, bather load, and amount of sun.

Here's the link in pool school: pool-school/salt_water_chlorine_generators
It's good reading.

Prices range for the units depending on features and size. A SWCG isn't necessarily cheaper, but it does reduce the work load.

Check with the pool manufacturer if they'll honor warranty work with a salt water pool.
