Does anyone know if a pump must sit lower than the water inlet so it does not loose its prime when the pump basket is cleaned? Do they make self priming pool pumps? What brand?
Thanks
Billy
Above ground pool pumps are not normally self priming and they need to sit below the water level. In ground pool pumps are designed to self prime and can lift the water four to eight feet above the pool water level, though the higher you go above the pool the more difficult they get to be to prime. You can use an in ground pump on an above ground pool if you want. All the major brands make both kinds.
