How long should I be running the pump on my new system? I do not the exact GPH without looking it up. So a general answer is fine. How many turn overs of water per day?
One turn of water a day is a good starting point, though you can probably do with less than that. There is a good article on figuring out your ideal pump run time in Pool School.
I have a 14,000 gallon pool. A 1.5HP pump (nothing says its gpm) but as far as I can estimate based on similar pumps is 60-80gmp. Lets estimate on the low side. 60.
14000/60 = 233.33 minutes of run time. Divide that by 60 minutes in an hour 3.8 hours.
I plan to run it 6 hours a day. Probably in 2, 3 hour timer sessions.
Does this seem logical for a 24' x 52" round pool?
