Ok, my spa drains down pretty low when the pump shuts off. Ill try to post some pics. http://s1151.photobucket.com/albums/o639/cody7651/. Any ideas? Ive heard ortega valve is bad. Not sure how to replace that
cody, i had the same issue when we first opened our pool and it turned out to be a back check valve. the PB came out and replaced it and that solved the issue.
One of two valves has either gone bad or gotten debris stuck in it. The spa return should have a check/ortega valve that prevents water coming backwards through the return pipe when the pump is off. There is also a valve on the suction side that selects between pool and spa. If either of those valves fails to seal correctly the spa will drain down when the pump is off. Many valves can be opened up and debris removed and the seals inspected and replaced if needed. If your valves can not be opened up, you should replace them with ones that can be serviced.
Did my link to the pics work? I think the ortega valve is in the far left of the first pic. It has a cap on the end of the pipe that looks like it screws off. Is it pretty simple to replace that?
