Questions on cleaning things up.

Hello! New member here!

I am pretty much a new pool owner too. Had one as a kid, but that probably doesn't count. We put ours in late last summer... So I guess that still qualifies me as a newbie.

Anyways.

We are in the process of opening our pool for the season. My question is, how is the best way to go about cleaning up the skimmer (it looks rather dingy, almost yellowish). And also, our pool steps. They are Innova brand, not sure the exact material, some kind of plastic. There is some dried up dead algae (I think) in a few corners, and I would just like to get them as clean as possible in general.

Also, what would be the best way and or product to use to clean up the resin top rails???? I used some of the orange cleaner for our hot tub on them last night, but it didn't really knock the "dead algae" off like I hoped it would.

Above ground pool in case you are wondering.
