I need to know what the psi is suppose to read when vaccuming an above ground pool. I have a sand filter and the guage reads 8 psi when circulating but drops to 1 when i start to vaccum. Is this normal?troublefreepool.com
a 1 psi drop is PERFECT for an inground pool, at least for me, but to me it should be across the board. The bigger experts should chime in in a little while.
Thanks, but I'm not sure we are on the same wave length. What I mean is that the PSi actually reads 1 on the guage, not that it dropped by 1. Any help???
Some drop in the filter pressure is to be expected but that is more of a drop than I would expect. Have you checked the vacuum hose to see if there is anything blocking it?
My psi sits around 14-16 on average and drops BY around 2 psi when I vac UNLESS there is something blocking it - follow the line from the end: check the vac head, the hose, the skimmer port/basket and then the pump basket itself. A small twig or big leaf can cause everything to back up from there.
