3,000 Gallon Pool-Total Chlorine around 5.5-6

Just added salt last Friday on our new plunge pool build. Total/free chlorine levels coming in over 5.

We have a had a ton of rain this week, levels still high

Will this just level out on its own with some sunny days? Should I be adding some kind of chlorine neutralizer?

Tomorrow is supposed to be 88 and Sunny and we were hoping to use the pool for the first weekend here this year. Is there danger in swimming in a pool that’s high with chlorine levels?

CYA is in the 50-60 range

Taylor TF100 test kit and check that VS my local Leslie’s readings

The pool math calculator on here had be adding approx 60 LBs of Salt initially

Fortunately, I only added 1 Bag worth (40 LBS). Glad I did because my chlorine levels are very high with just 1 Bag added

Granted I have a small pool and perhaps it’s not quite 3,000 gallons and slightly less

A FC of 5 is close to the minimum for a CYA of 60.

No. It makes the same amount regardless of how much salt is in water as long as it’s not over the limit or too low.

Here are your chlorine requirements which completely depends on how much CYA is in the water. CYA equals more chlorine required.
