2nd Time Pool Owner

Thanks. I see you recommend buying from Marina. Is that for better service / warranty ? Our just a good partner ? Is it worth buying the plus package ? I don't know that I need a caddy as I have a cabana / small poolhouse by the pool. Will it pick up the texas dust / sediment I am getting ?

I like Marina because they have great pricing, ship free 2nd day air, no taxes, and provide the standard factory warranty..

You have to call to get the best pricing on Dolphin robots, but you can buy the EVO robots through their website..

Just to be clear.. I recommend places where I buy my stuff, and I recommend products that I have bought and like.

I don't recommend anything that is based on whether they support TFP or not..

I have been using robot pool cleaners for about 20 years.. I bought my first robot used and it came with a caddy.. For me, I found the caddy to be a waste of space..

For the EVO, I would spring for the additional extra fine filter basket.. Well worth the extra $50 bucks..

Thanks,

Jim R.

So a couple of updates....

Got the TF-Pro Salt kit. Was traveling last week so FC tested at zero. I have / had the issue with my SWG not working on one polarity, but I believe i have fixed that by replacing the PCB in the Breeze controller. I will monitor this but if It can get me through this year, great. Otherwise I'm good buying a new SWG.

Added liquid chlorine and have the FC at 4.5. Ran an OCLT and FC did not drop. CC was at 0.5 - was very faint and one drop cleared it completely. Am targeting FC of 5 with a CYA level of 70. By reading I don't need to SLAM, but I do see green when I brush the bench / steps. If I need to SLAM it will need to wait as I am traveling again this week.

What is a good test schedule ? Daily / Weekly / Monthly once things are in steady state ?

Also, I got the EVO 614IQ with the fine filter (I have both filters). So far I am a little unimpressed - there's a fair amount still on the bottom after multiple runs. Also, the Lift function doesn't seem to be working - it starts to climb the wall but won't make it to the waterline. Same if I run the walls and floor cycle. It worked when I first started it. Am I doing something wrong ?

Thanks all.

I would aim a bit higher so that if you have a high demand day (swimmers, organics etc), you will stay in range.
but I do see green
Visible Algae = SLAM.

Thanks. I am leaving tomorrow for a short business trip but will return on Thursday and will plan to start he SLAM then. Pool Math is telling me a target FC of 31 and I need to add 13 gallons of liquid Chlorine. Just confirming that is right ?

So when I get back from my trip I need to lower PH to 7.2 and then add a ton of chlorine. I turn off the salt cell during the SLAM. Should I backwash the DE filter prior to starting ?

Thanks

What is your CYA and current FC level.
Yes, backwash and note filter pressure running at high speed. When your pressure rises 25% from clean speed, backwash again. You may be backwashing A LOT.
FC is 3.5. Cya is 60. No Chloramines I assume I’m adding DE at every backwash ?

You need to get that FC UP!!! Take it to SLAM level before you leave on your trip...target is 24.
So I had changed the PCB in my salt generator. First few days all was good - got no fault lights on either polarity. Yesterday it came back so I'm thinking a lot of my issues since I have had this pool is the SWG. Will search the SWG forum and ask there about a replacement.
