Over this past winter I had a main drain pipe fail on my 20x40 vinyl lined pool (for the second time). Leaked out well over 1/2 the water, liner ruined. This same thing happened 6 years ago and at that time it was suggested by the pool repair company to abandon the main drains, we elected to repair and keep the main drains functional.
Looking for some expert advice here, after the second failure in 6 years do we abandon the drain(s)? Repair and wait for it to happen again? Pros/cons? I have a sand filter with a 1.5 hp pump that runs continuously, my pool water stays very clean and balanced, I'm concerned that won't be the case if we abandon the drains.
Thanks in advance!
