The first time I used my hot tub a few years ago I had an interesting experience. I had the temp set at 104* and I stayed in for over 30 minutes. When I got out I felt very weak. I have very mild Type II diabetes and tested my blood glucose level, which was 80. I was suffering from hypoglycemia (unusual for me) which explained the feeling of weakness.
This got me curious and I googled. I found a small study that suggested soaking in a hot tub could lower blood glucose as does exercise. My MD thought it might be increased metabolism from the temperature.

I don't know if insurance pays for a hot tub prescription, or if anyone makes a “generic†hot tub (which would have a lower co-pay).
