15 June 2024 This is like starting up a chemical plant!

I'll be buying again from them. Probably at least an RJ 45 to stay with the 2X TFP recommendation.
I would have gone 3X in NY in a heartbeat if it was available for me. In a hot climate I would seriously consider a 4X. I run 24/7 so don't care about needing to run the pump longer with a smaller unit, but upsizing costs considerably less than the lifespan gained. The cells are only going to get more expensive over time and the ROI is very helpful in the long run.

Couldn't agree more Dude! I will say that my previous pool was a little less than half this size and after 3 years the RJ 30+ remained at the original settings. I'm sure that changed after I sold the house but it looks like they're still running it now 6 years total on the unit. Back when I bought there was way less history with the Circupool brand but I think they've now established themselves as a reliable supplier and the only other choice would be for compatibility with automation and pump features which are not really important enough to me. I can make the automation work great for any brand with my home brew automation or Intellicenter (back up for me if I can't get @Katodude 's system to work for me)

It’s super easy to do. It has also gotten easier lately as the control boards have improved. Lots of us can help here in case you get stuck.

I would recommend when you do your plumbing to plumb in a bypass and manifold so that you have add in a bunch of probes as necessary. Look at something like @MyAZPool has. He probably has the nicest looking plumbing of anybody. Sensors are getting better and cheaper and you would want to future proof yourself to be able to add whatever comes out.
Kato, can you please point me to the best place to start with the automation that will perform the following:
  • All normal controls for a pool/spa type pool
  • Remote over internet as well as local wifi control from phone
  • Solar panel control capability to bypass during rain or clouds and adjust delta T as needed
Chris

Folks,

One more question please. I used a robot last two years in previous pool before we sold the house. Things seemed to be evolving last year we had the pool. Biggest question was about lifespan. Is 5-7 years still reasonable? I'll be calling Margaret again but I'd like to get TFP'ers view first. @Jimrahbe how are your robots performing?

Chris

One of the things I always wished I could find was current best pricing sources for equipment. Changes of course all the time but at least I could be sure I was getting quotes from places at least one TFP'er had found to be competitive. Here's where I am at the moment:

Chris,

Based more on what I see here at TFP, it appears that the newer S200 "Style" robots have a lifespan of 3 to 5 years. A lot less than it used to be.

My latest Robot is an EVO and I like it better than my S200 Style robots, but.... I have no clue how long it will last.

I consider my robots tools, I do not name them.. When they wear out, I consider it an expense, and just buy new one..

The person has created over 60 companies.

Do you really think that they care about any of them?

They just make tons of companies and they make up a bunch of awards and qualifications that are completely worthless.

Kato, can you please point me to the best place to start with the automation that will perform the following:

Start here:

It’s incredibly easy to set up. I am not sure about the solar settings, I might need to double check that.

It also has a HomeAssistant integration if you use that stuff as well.

The most expensive component is probably the box you mount it in. Altelix makes the best ones. Make sure you get a Din Rail one.

I am on my 3rd rebuild and can do it pretty quickly now if you need help. I am probably about 45 min down the road from you.

Thanks much Jim. Very thorough review and the fact that you're still happy with it is a plus. So I'll put it on the short list.

  • Spa jets. My previous pool used the eductor-type that had a manual suction control mounted around the spa. I plan to use them for this pool. Any recommendations from people? I'm leaning toward waterway plastics.
HeyChris I have only seen these online but they look interesting.

Also i am looking at this Muffler device to eliminate the noise of the Venturi action and the need for a blower. I think it goes on the raised spa beam area where the round dial adjustment devices used to go.

Thanks much Dude! I'll read up on it later today. Waiting for call back from excavation sub... rain has pounded us and they're behind.

Dude,
Looks like this is intended to control an Intellicenter based system. I think I got a version of this running quite a while back when we were having "challenges" waiting for updates to Intellicenter. I'd like to bypass intellicenter completely... I'll still use a lot of the Pentair equipment such as their superb 5 hp pump (yes 5 is not a typo. It's massive). What would you recommend or is there a way to do this using nodejs without an Intellicenter based system? I have some time to get this up and running while I wait for concrete cure but I need to get after it soon or I'll have to buy the whole Intellicenter system. I have a Raspberry Pi board (~2yrs old) to experiment with now). Also have an Arduino based board and one that uses an ESP32.

Thanks much!

Chris
