Add DE after backwashing

I just opened my pool this weekend and have been running the filter continuously to get the water clean. Given the amount of dirt and leaves in the water I've had to backwash several times and suspect I may need to do it a couple more times before it can run on a shorter schedule with more regular, less frequent backwashing. I added 6lbs. of DE (the recommended amount for the filter) when I opened the pool and have been adding DE after each backwash. The question I have is do I need to continue to add more DE after each backwash and if not, how do I know if/when to add more DE after backwashing?

You do need to add DE after each time you backwash the filter. Most filters only need about 80% of the full DE charge after backwashing, since you can never get all of the DE out with just backwashing.
