TFP Guide
I humbly suggest creating a TFP endowment fund. A lot of the people we’ve helped are extremely accomplished and prefer donating to endowments that will fuel forever growth and can rest assured that their gifts will matter forever, and that their legacy is indelible. Even if you don’t “have a fundraiser” where you “ask for money” but instead “announce” it and “thank everyone who has requested this and will contribute” you’ll be setting up TFP to one day never need any fundraisers. Also, when we did this for another 501c3, I was surprised how many people thanked me for inviting them to be even a small part in it because they had never donated to an endowment before, and even our minimum allowed donation brought tears to a few people’s eyes that they were “forever donors” as I called our endowment contributors. We ended raising more than we did in our yearly funding drive!! At the current growth and withdrawal rates, the endowment is going to provide at least 50 years of completely funding the annual awards ceremony (volunteer and sponsor thank you party) before the yearly withdrawal exceeds the remaining balance. We’re planning what we’re calling an “endowment booster” where we will invite contributions to increase the balance so that we can either extend that runway, or maybe increase withdrawal amount too if we hit a bonus amount. In any case, it was good for us, and I’d totally contribute to a TFP endowment personally!
