2024 Chlorine prices - a bit higher than last year

wondering what people are paying, here in Philly suburbs i usually get my chlorine at Leslies because when i buy cheaper stuff at the local walmart mess of a store it usually is less effective so whats the point of saving a few dollars

  • cal-hypo - 25 lbs was $275 in April - reg price now is $225 - on sale for $190
    - liquid chlorine - 4 gallon pack was $40 in May - reg price now is $33 - on sale for $ 29

I’m in Illinois so unsure if you have any of these stores:

  • Woodman’s supermarket $15.99
  • Farm & Fleet $17.79
  • Menards $20 but rebate brings it down to $17.76
 
latest prices from the leslies i use (other places like walmart or costco may have lower prices but worse quality)
3inch tabs - 20 lbs/$139/$6.95 per lb, 35 lbs/$199/$5.60 per lb. 50 lbs/$219/$4.38 per lb (InTheSwim brand)
powerpowderplus - 25lbs/$225/$9 per lb, 50lbs/$350/$7 per lb
current special is $50 off if you spend $225 or $75 off if you spend $325
i guess best deal is purchase 50lb buckets of each for a total of $569 less $75 - total is $494
seems high but this is the new normal
the cheapest prices are by purchasing the larger buckets, just save your smaller buckets for partial transfers because lugging those 50 pounders is annoying plus keep this in your basement over the offseason to extend life of product
let me know if anyone has better prices or better ideas out there -
 
Liquid chlorine 10% or 12.5% is all the same stuff. Not getting the results you expect could very well be old stock. Always check the date code.

The first 5 digits on the gallon bottle or 4pack case are read like this. First two digits are the year, the next 3 digits are the day in the year it was manufactured.

For example, date code 24185 would the 185 day of 2024 or approximately July 3rd. So if you see date code 24063 or something similar, I wouldn’t buy it that is pretty old and much weaker. Shop around!
