$200,000 pool, ready to set it on fire!

Untitled | CyndiSB | Flickr

idk what happened last night. My fill hose was on the ground and created a river. My sandfilter was not putting out any water. The backwash took nearly a minute to run clear. The water in pool looks horrible.

Im headed to Home Depot now for supplies to make the 5 gallon poly filled filter. Hoping to get that done before the heat index rises to 105 today.

You can actually see the print on liner bottom. Idk what to do with bleach now because the FC tested at 20 and then my strips tested it high this evening. The stabilizer is low. Everything else was high. But get this, I went to local ma and pa pool store, they used test strips same as Walmart sales. . Then the lady got mad because I didn't want to buy $50 bottle of phoslow.

I gasped out loud when I saw that picture!!!!! Oh Cyndi!! You did it!!! I bet that bucket is full of YUCK! use care getting it out so you do not spill any of it back into the pool!

Now run and get your grand and throw her in the pool!!!!

Save up your dimes so you can get a good test kit asap so we can keep it that way!

You can use the cheap drop test for PH from walmart to adjust your PH. This is one that is very important for swimmer comfort.

How much CYA did you add? What was your target CYA?

I used a starting point of 10 and target of 30. I think it was 10 ounces but I can't remember. I did whatever the pool math chart said to do. The fc was high last night so I didn't add any bleach. I'm debating running a sample into town but the nearest Leslie's is 45 minutes away. I'm trying to figure out how to vacuum it now. The vacuum hose and sand filter connections are different sizes. I also need to top it off since I lost a lot of water yesterday when my contraption fell over. I'm scared to put anymore water in it so that may wait until tonight so if needed I can rerun this contraption. My shopping list now is the test kit, lights (need to light up that section of the yard), and a bikini! I told my family if it worked overnight I'm getting a bikini. It's been so hot my fluffy self has been doimg
all this in a sports bra and shorts anyway. Time to celebrate!

I would not bother having the Pool $tore. We have found they get it wrong more that right :(

Lets call your CYA at what you targeted for now.

Vacuum-do you have a Lowes or Home Depot close? Can you take the parts down there and maybe have someone help you find a way to make them work together? Or at least something that is the same sizes?

Do we get to see your cute self in the bikini???

Which test kit are you getting?

 I am SO happy for you!!

Haha, definitely not sharing a bikini pic! I may run in to town and go to Home Depot. The hoses and everything that came with pool are 1.25 inches I think and the sand filter is 1.5. I did order some parts on amazon but I don't even know if they will work.

ps. It's currently rigged. The old hoses are redneck fitted into the filter hose using duct tape. And the return I have zip tied to the frame. A girls gotta do what she's gotta do! I'm pretty proud of my new singleness and what I've accomplished thus far. I know I could have made a simple call to ex mutual friends because they are all plumbers, pipe fitters, and welders. But I didn't! So maybe this pool has been an aid in the healing process. Gotta find the positive.

You go girl!! You did good! I will tell you I have, use and LOVE duct tape and zip ties!

How empowering this has to be for you! Now you can ask us any question and someone should have the answer and walk you through it as well!
