2” worth it on this install?

I know this has been covered MULTIPLE times although nothing really as similar to my situation. Current set up is 21’ AB with 2 speed pump and cheap 1.25” hoses. The pump is only about 5-6ft from pool.

This season I am going to re plumb with rigid pvc. Would preferably just like to go 1.5” less reducers etc. Although my question is would I see great benefit going 2” with that short of section? After I figure in reducers etc probably looking at 4ft etc on each side. Inlet side will need one elbow. Return side will need 3 elbows. So in conclusion not sure how much I would benefit from 2” on such a short run?

Last question I am debating on throwing in a flow meter. Being I don’t have a variable just two speed is it worth it or just a waste of time and money at this point. Would I be better off retrofitting later down the road if I upgrade to variable?

1 1/2” is perfectly fine & less headache with adapters & such. It is such a short distance it won’t matter.
Is there some reason you would need to have a flow meter?
A functioning pressure gauge on the filter is all I have ever needed. When pressure rises 25% over clean pressure it is time to backwash/clean the filter.
Your $ & time is better spent on well placed unions & good valves.

Be certain you purchase/use schedule 40 pvc fittings & not dwv fittings as they aren’t meant for pressure

Thanks for the reply, I was just not sure if the flow meter was a good thing to install. I will ditch that and save some cash. I already have two 1.5” union valves from the install. Right at the skimmer and at the return jet. My plan was two just install 1.5” threaded by 1.5” socket union at the inlet of the pump and outlet of the filter that way I can just remove both sections completely when I winterize.

Also debating on which water bonding fitting I want to upgrade to, either in the skimmer. Or PB makes an in-line pvc type tee fitting I can install while gluing everything else up.
