2 Speed Pump Wiring on Easytouch

I am replacing a single speed with a 2 speed pump. I get the general wiring concept, but am unclear on the relay.

Do you need the special Pentair relay, or can you program one of the auxiliary relay for the second speed, and just stagger the start and stop times?

The reason that you should not use two individual relays is because if for any reason both relays turn on... your pump will turn off... Permanently!!!.. it will quickly let the smoke out..

The 2-speed relay is nothing but a DPDT relay... You don't have to use Pentair's relay, but I would suggest you use a DPDT relay and not two DPST Aux relays..

Think of it as Insurance... Also.. the EasyTouch has internal programs for 2-speed relays that won't work if you try to use two Aux relays.
