Hello, we are having our first pool ever put in. Just about to sign the contract. Pebble Sheen, Pentair equipment, SWG, connected SPA, Sheers and Bubbler. The main pool size is going to 35 x 12 with an 8x8 wet deck plus connected spa with two spills. We live in Las Vegas and are trying to determine the darkest color water we can get without having to worry about calcium showing. We will have a very light colored bond beam and water line tile. We are a fan of the Ocean Blue but our pool contractor told us that would be too dark at night and suspect to showing calcium if the water chemistry is not perfect. Any Las Vegans with Ocean Blue and what is your experience with that color? Alternatives would be Blue Granite, Prism Blue or Slate Blue

Hello! Welcome to TFP :)
Here are some folks pics of pools, and you might find a color here you like?

Welcome to the forum.

You will get waterline scale regardless. It will show on any tile color. The lighter tile color will show it less.
The plaster should never get calcium scale on it. You should be monitoring your pool chemistry with your own kit and managing it to prevent that.

Be sure you plumb your autofill to your water softener. Once the pool is filled with tap water, use softened water for make up water.

Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately the water softener loop is on the opposite of the garage as the main water line and where the pool equipment will be located. Not sure how they would plumb that. But i can certainly ask the pool builder

If you do not use softened water for makeup water, you will need to drain the pool about every 2 years to keep the CH level in check or you will get calcium scale.
