Yup. CYA probably won't dissolve quickly without good circulation but get 30 ppm in there and if it takes 3 days to mush up, so be it.

Count it as added once it's soaking and never sniff min FC for 30 CYA. Everyday FC will drop and you'll quickly get an idea how much you should dose to achieve the never sniff minimum mission before your next test. Min FC is lava.
Sorry for being slow 😂, When you say minimum fc is lava what do you mean?

Got the pool math app and took a look at the test kits, guess ill have to get some additional testing items when I switch over to the SWCG. Reading the pool school stuff if I understand right during my current situation with no filter and limited circulation with a submersible pump should I just keep SLAM levels for the time being?

Pool is still filling, the wife surprised me with a Betta skimmer since the surface was getting pretty well covered by those tree worms. At least that's what we call them lol, those stringy things that come off of oak trees. Passed my "footing and foundation" inspection. The inspector was cool as heck and we chatted for a good 15-20 min before he left. Tomorrow I'm gonna be running the bonding grid and the plumbing so I can backfill. Worked on the roof for the equipment enclosure today, Yes it weighs a ton like I wanted it to lol. I have extra shingles and drip edge from the garage too so will probably do the same to make the enclosure match the garage.

You want to remain free and clear above minimum at all times. If you touch minimum you may get burned, so treat it like lava and admire it from afar. Give it plenty of leeway just in case today has a bit more UV burnoff then yesterday.

On a fresh fill its probably unnecessary. It may need frequent doses of some LC until the CYA is dispersed. But then after that you will probably lose about 2 ppm a day right now. You'll test in the evening and dose back whatever you lost (or in the morning) so that its still above min at your next test.

So if you get to 30 CYA, and youre losing 2ppm a day, dose to 6, land at 2, still have some wiggle room at min FC of 2ppm. In July you may lose 4ppm per day and you raise the target accordingly with the same mission. Start at 8 and land at 4.

I called them oak snots. Do. Not. Miss. At. All.

Add heavy duty versions of piston hinges like a deck box would have.

Got it, figuratively speaking I see now 😂. Obviously that went over my head lmao. Have one of the Taylor kits on the way and the submersible will be here tomorrow. Pool should be close to full by tomorrow so I’m running out in the am for chlorine and cya in the morning and add what the math calls for.

Definitely a thought I had. I may stick to simplicity and just make 2 kickstands that fall down whenever you open the lid for now. It’s heavy but not to the point my nuggets are gonna drop to the ground every time I lift it 🤣

Some of us are members of "Team Run Hot" - we run the Cl at the top of the range, or even a bit above. It is safe to swim all the way up to the SLAM level, so no issues there.
A belt and suspenders margin for pool party days, or other times when CL might take a hit. A reason not to run high is if you are using liquid, and want to moderate the amount you have to dump in each day. If with a SWCG, one just turns the knob up a bit higher. Getting into the range of 10 or more makes the pH readings wonky, so there is that consideration.
