Carbon Dioxide for pH adjustment

CO2 will lower pH but can raise TA. To reduce/eliminate scaling in a SWCG you need to have lower pH and TA if your CH is above 300 ppm.

So yes. CO2, if used, can increase scaling in your SWCG.
 
CO2 injection will only temporarily reduce PH when in solution. Once the gas injection stops, PH will rise again as the dissolved co2 gases off--at least this is what happens in an aquarium ecosystem. We can approximately measure dissolved co2 in the water column by measuring ph drop from gas-off to gas-on.
