We bought a house with a pool in Oct 2016. The pool was beautiful; crystal clear and sparkling. It stayed that way through the winter and most of the summer of 2017. In Aug 2017, it began to get green, really green. Then our pump went out, and we were unable to properly close it for the winter. We let it go until spring 2018, and have not been able to get it under control since. The chemistry readings were all over the place, even when we took them to two different pool supply stores. We have spent over $600 on chemicals, and my husband would not drain, even though the CYA was over 100 and the pool remained green. I am now taking things into my own hands with the help of TFP. I am expecting a Taylor K-2006 test kit tomorrow and have drained some of the water already. I have 3 gallons of 10% bleach from the summer supply, and found out I can use regular 6% bleach, which is available at Walmart. Wish me luck!!!
