Installing new Pentair Multiport valve 261142 - How To Install Sight Glass??

I'm about to DIY replace my existing cheap backwash filter with a Multiport valve. Model 261142. High flow valve.

Got a sight glass in the package but it's a huge 2 inch piece just like a small pvc pipe. One end threaded, one end not.

How do I attach it to the Multiport? All the multiport connections are slip, not threaded.

And where? Waste outflow?

The instructions are not good. And little info online.

Do I even need the sight glass?

Sight glass goes on the waste outflow line. It lets you see when the backwash flow changes from dirty to clear water.

I don't have any plastic seal with it or anything. Do I just use standard PVC glue to seal it to the waste outflow slip?

My sight glass is cut into the waste pipe about 4 feet down from the multiport. I don’t know what the various installation practices may be.

I installed the sand filter version of that valve and didnt use the included "sight glass". Clear pvc will get cloudy over time and if you glue it in, there isnt any way to change it out in the future. I used this sight glass from Hayward so i could replace the short clear piece as needed
