Steep yard with above ground pool and water run off

Hey all,

So we have an above ground pool installed on a steeply sloped yard. The installer left a small 2 foot gap from the yard to the pool base. I've installed a french drain as a novice and am wondering if I'm going about this the right way. Can anyone help a brother out?
