Replacing Spa Light Fixture and pulled new cable through (pain in the..). Duh down when I saw one pipe is corroding and discovered it’s metal?!
Found conduit is gray PVC up to ground level, then it’s metal pipe up to the threaded connections at the j-box.
I bought new Pentair junction boxes 2 years ago, so I have them why not replace old.
Is this code?
Does it have to be metal pipe for the 12” or so run from ground-level to jbox? Is it supposed to be non-corrosive Copper/brass pipe maybe?
How to I glue that to pvc? Another question-why do the connections need to be threaded at the Brass jbox?
Want to make sure it’s to code. A lot of garden hose rubs against it so maybe metal is again advised, though gray pvc is a easier splice.

Thanks so much!
If you know, do I need a special PVC glue for the wet conduit?
I need to move the conduit and install a new smooth 90.
I have leftover purple primer and hot blue stuff from last season’s white PVC repair.
