vinyl liner with OLD metal coping - I think its coping....fairly new pool owner

I have an old pool structure (1975) with sand walls and the concrete-like bottom. New vinyl liner with and oringinal metal coping?? edge to hold the liner. Not sure why we didn't replace it when we had the new liner installed but honestly I didn't know it was an option. Can it be replaced and what do you have to do to replace? Empty entire pool? It's 70000 gallons.

That coping stays until you hammer out the deck & change liner...

Painting sounds good now I bet...

Cardinal Systems makes a great paint. & if you can’t get it rustoleom flat will do the deed.
Go for the cardinal first.
