Hi, I have just joined after years of using TFP anonymously.
Pool calculator is great and so is all the advice.
Had the pool about 9years and almost no problems in spite of it being unattended for weeks at a time. Usual problems with water line staining - I am sure it is caused by grandchildren’s sun screen, but Their mothers won’t change brand so I can test that theory.
i shall find the right forum and post a question about slatted, floating covers reducing the effects of sunlight on chlorine

Welcome to TFP its nice to here your voice after all these years.

We will have a chat with your grandchildren's mother it seems she is holding up scientific research....

As to your question the easy answer is yes a slatted cover should reduce the suns effect on the chlorine in your pool. The hard answer is by how much will a slatted cover make a difference. It sounds like you may have a new experiment to keep you busy while we tackle that sunscreen issue.
