I read through all 29 pages of the “So you want to add Borates” thread in one sitting today. I read with interest the two posts from Big Island Pool Service about Solubor vs Granubor on pp16ish. I also read the links to Richard’s posts on Borax sources and the first inquiry about about Solubor. Now my head is swimming, and I have a question. I have a free source of Granubor (from my farming brother who also gifted me the grain bin from which I built my pool). Since my pool is 34k, that means a substantial savings over the necessary amount of Boric acid, even if I still pay for the Muriatic Acid. I did see percentages in the threads that should help me calculate the amounts needed (since Pool Calculator doesn’t factor Granubor). But I can’t find them and proabably don’t trust myself completely even if I had them in front of me. Could someone verify that Granubor IS a viable addition to test drive borates in my pool this summer (label photo attached), and if so, also help me calculate the amounts I should add of the Granubor and the Muriatic Acid? Meanwhile, I am lowering the TA now because it is at 110.
