    Hydrostatic valve

So i drained my pool to paint in November and refilled it but it wasnít holding water so i drained it yesterday and think that my hydrostatic valve is bad. My husband tried to remove it and itís pretty hard donít wanna break nothing. Itís an old bronze valve. Can i replace it with a plastic one and how do i get the thing off?

Most of them nowadays thread in place, however, it could be an older style and be permanently in the concrete. Usually if it is located in a plastic main drain then it threads in.
