So i drained my pool to paint in November and refilled it but it wasn’t holding water so i drained it yesterday and think that my hydrostatic valve is bad. My husband tried to remove it and it’s pretty hard don’t wanna break nothing. It’s an old bronze valve. Can i replace it with a plastic one and how do i get the thing off?

Most of them nowadays thread in place, however, it could be an older style and be permanently in the concrete. Usually if it is located in a plastic main drain then it threads in.
I feel the threads but just afraid to break something. It is a pretty old model. Can i replace it with a plastic one because the one that in there was 120 dollars.
