Vinyl Pool Liner, so I am pretty sure this isn't black algae.....

But how do I figure out what the heck it is and treat it?

PH is about 7.2 and chlorine levels are super high and stay consistent overnight

Tried brushing multiple times and it pushes it all over the pool, but it comes back within a few hours (this leads me to think it has to be organic)

What should my next steps be?

Welcome to TFP!

You'll have to be a bit more clear. What is a super high chlorine level? Free chlorine or total chlorine? What is your CYA level? What is consistent overnight?

How are you testing your pool?

If your chemistry is indeed all OK and it keeps coming back, that would be more likely that it ISN'T organic. But without hard numbers from a recommended test kit, it's hard to know what advice to give you.

Shonuff:

Welcome to TFP and please add your signature. Please take a few pictures of the pool a little further away. As with any problem, it is always best to think back where all this started. Was the pool crystal clear, and when? When di the pool become cloudy and green, etc. Please explain exactly what you were and were not doing or anything that has changed. More information, the better.

In addition, clearing up a pool requires accurate testing. Please read through Pool School and we suggest highly one of the recommended test kits. Recently, we cleared up a friends a pool that went from clear, to cloudy to green almost overnight. The process took 4 days. Without a proper kit, the process could have taken weeks.

Here are some better pics of the pool

Any ideas?

I'm going to get in the pool this weekend and try to grab some of the black stuff and see if I can learn anything that way
