Now that summer is in full swing, and everybody is in the pool all day long, I've found myself adding a cup or two of 12% every two to three days. I'm running the SWG 6hrs, and really don't want to run my pump any longer than that.

Seeing that the SWG was a gift, and I really enjoy how it maintains FC for me, I bought a second SWG to run in parallel.

I built a step-stool like stand for the two units, and plumbed them in parallel using 1-1/2" electrical box adapters and Intex threaded collars I had from some old plunger valves.

I had to squeeze into the return line to have them after the solar panels.

I have one unit set for 3 hrs, and the other one set for 4 hrs. I set my pump to come on a 1/2 hour before the SWGs, and it runs 1/2 hour after the last SWG shuts off, unless of course the solar is running.

I'll see how 7 hrs total does for the next week, I'm figuring come August I'll have them both running 4 hrs each.

Thanks! I wanted them staggered like that so both control panels are easy to access.

I need to see how much the replacement cells are. If they are inexpensive enough I'll grab two for backup. I built the stand from leftovers from building the pad, so I'm only into this for about $160 including PVC.

One more tidbit.
You can run the Intex swg`s on a battery charger, 12 vdc trickle charge setting of 2 amps. So if you think it is the cell that has gone bad, try a little 12 vdc to a cell, if it bubbles the cell is still good.
I only got about a year out of both of mine before the power center died, rectifier problems if I remember correctly, this was 6-7 years ago. I used both of my cells for about 6 years, they still don`t look that bad.

Yes, mine is a bit bigger and can go to 6 amp.
When I did start using the charger full time I had to put it up off the shelf using a couple of short 2 x 4`s, it would heat up and duty cycle would shut it down on me, allowed to cool it is still charging batteries today.

Yes at times I would run both on the charger below set to 2 amps

After changing the ground and positive manually on the cells, I went to a 2 prong female plug on the charger, and a 2 prong male plug leading to the cells. Once a day I would flip that over to reverse the polarity and clean the cells.
Then I got lazy or noticed I was forgetting to flip the plug. So I went to the local electrical supply house and found a double pole double throw 110v relay for 30$. Powered that up with a timer set on half hour on off cycle, when it was powered polarity was - +, when it wasn`t polarity was + -.
Finally decided to wash them out with vinegar real good, but they still look they will work. Tomorrow I will fill them with pool water and power them up just to see.

Nice looking setup with step stand. I used two concrete blocks, two bricks and wire closet shelving as interim solution but one year later, its still there. I dont think its worth buying a replacement cell. Keep an eye on these Intex units selling for $100 or less at amazon or walmart. Buy one as backup and raid the parts from them. On ebay there seems to be one seller or two that sells "store returns" I got real deal from ebay as backup unit.

Intex has warranty period of 1 year on the cell, 2years on the entire unit. Reading round here, I see statements from couple people of 2-3 year lifespan. Keep updating us on this thread as I am curious about the longevity. I have created my own thread on my install for this purpose.

oooo! I like! seems I have to run my SWG more than I need to run the filter, running two at once would save wear and tear on the pump and still be cheaper than a "real" SWG.

Well tested my two old old Intex cells yesterday, the 7110 is in the bin, the 8110 still does put out, but I am guessing not like it used to, saving it for a just in case situation as it will fit where my Hayward t-cell is quickly (wiring already in place).
So not too bad they did me good for 5-6 seasons.

HI Dom, what fittings did you use from the swg to transition to pvc . The intex and electrival adapter? Can they be bought? Thanks again. I have hard piped my inlet's by your help. Thanks very much. You areally a big asset to people here.
