Pool sound system - advice before I pull the trigger

Hey guys,

Here is what I am going with so far for pool audio system. We plan on using the WiFi capability of the receiver to control Pandora and other music apps with our phones. For those that know a bit about outdoor audio - will this setup be a disappointment in some way? I do like my music!

I also plan on having one or two old yamaha speakers wired in the house by the receiver so the sound can be both inside and outside. I'll have the indoor speakers on a switch so we can turn on only when we have a party.

I'm no audiophile, but your setup looks pretty nice to me. I went with a simple Yamaha Bluetooth receiver that was around $150 I think since I was going to keep it in the garage. I figure if it goes out then no big loss. I did install 2 of the TIC speakers you are planning on and they are pretty nice in my opinion. They produce more than enough sound for me. Good luck!

Firefox. That's pretty decent equipment. For your outdoor yard. I think you may have too much in your receiver. You have a 7.2 dolby receiver. That's pretty much a surround sound receiver so you can hook up 9 speakers to your tv/home theater. There should be some type of "zone" button which will let you hook up a pair of speakers in another room. You need to check the specs.

You may be better off with just a stereo system rather than a surround system. If you can't find one that does Bluetooth, you can buy a Bluetooth device that will connect to the stereo receiver and let you use your phones. Either way. A built in outdoor audio system rocks.

I have a separate home theater system that runs my 9 speakers for the tv in the house. I went with a cheaper Bluetooth speakers or the pool and use iheart radio. My yard is not as big as yours.

Yamaha R-N301BL Network Stereo Receiver. I think you'll have better luck with something like this since it's not a surround sound receiver. It has Bluetooth and wifi as options (you need to buy a module), hooks up to your network via a cat5 cable and looks like it can handle 4 speakers.

It is a great receiver but keep in mind that HDMI 2.1 is "supposedly" coming out next year, so if you want to future-proof for a while longer it may be a good idea to wait one more year before buying (that's what I'm doing with my TV purchase).
But this HDMI compliance is only important (AFAIK) if you plan to run streaming/ripped movies through your receiver then to your TV.
