Can you vacuum up sand with a cartridge filter?

Got my pool installed a few weeks ago and haven't been in it yet. It has a cover on it. Just peeked through and see this throughout the pool. It may be sand from the installers wader boots. It may be dirt from the digging area. Can't tell. The question is if it is sand will it hurt the cartridge filter vacuuming sand into it? IMG_0067.jpg

You can vacuum up the sand. It won't hurt the filter. It is no different than dirt.
