Major problem!!

About 20 years ago, we got a wild idea to put in a regulation sized sand volleyball court. As we were using a skid-loader last night to prepare the area for our 18x33x52 AG pool, we ran into sand in the rear area of where we want to put the pool. It was about 18-24" thick so we removed it and backfilled with dirt. We are going to rent something called a "sheeps ear(?)" to compact the area.

We are now concerned that the ground will settle and we will ruin the pool. Has anyone else had this situation? Do we need to let the ground sit? We have wanted to put a pool in for about 5 years and are now so excited, but our excitment was smashed last night.

I don't know where you live or what kind of soil you have.
In general, if you use the sheeps foot roller of sufficient weight, and put the soil in a minimum of 2 lifts(9-10" per lift), and use soil that is neither too wet or dry, you should have no problems with settling.
I would also make sure that you go about 2 feet beyond the footprint of the pool, just to be sure.
