Hi,

So I am patiently (not really) waiting for my Stenner pump. It wont get to me before i leave for a vacation. No one can help me with the chlorine because i dont have anyone to watch over it.

Anyway I was thinking of what I can get that is cheap, fast & easy (thats what she said).

How about this:

I don't know about adding a valve to control the flow, but you are definitely on track for something that have proven to work in the past: My $25 auto chlorinator DIY project

I would not use the flow control valve and would instead maybe use a digital lamp timer to determine pump run time and thus the amount of LC added per day. I keep seeing comments about flow control devices clogging. Eliminating a small orifice in the system will help prevent a clog. Might not be a big deal since you have a better pump system coming soon.

I just built a similar low-cost dosing system using a $12 peristaltic pump and a used sprinkler timer. I was going to do a write-up as soon as I got a few pics to go along with the description and part list. It's not rocket science. My system is located in a storage shed next to the pool pump so good looks and being weather-proof are not required. Also, with a peristaltic pump (even the cheap eBay versions) you don't have to worry about siphoning.

I bought a digital timer off amazon for the stenner so I can use it now with the 'diy' vacation pump.

I am only pumping say 6oz per day into my hot tub so i need it to go slowly. With the aqualift maybe the long hose (20 feet) would slow down the flow vs pinching it.


On the other hand it makes sense that the Peristaltic pump cant siphon physically.
