Agreed. I took a bolt that was long enough and glued a small magnet bought at Harbor Freight to the bolts top. Cost about $3 and took me only minutes to complete.
You guys are making it way too complicated....retrieving the stir bar is a task perfectly suited for the small and flexible arms and hands of your children. Just tell them it's a chocolate covered jellybean and they'd be willing to stick their arms into a hungry alligators mouth to retrieve it!
Just a follow up, I'm a bit disappointed, but it's my own fault. My Speedstir is dead due to corrosion from getting wet/soaked. Not saying I dropped it in the pool or anything like that. There is no conformal coating to protect the components on the board, I'll get a replacement but will treat it. OOPS.
Wow! Great pic of topside. Unfortunate about this turn of events. Wonder if some type of seal would help? Kinda surprised that they didn't coat it, unless the heat transfer would be hindered?
