Cold climates and SWG?

Someone told me that SWG don't work well in cold climates (we are in Michigan). I haven't seen anything like that. Are there any issues?

Sorry for the lack of signature, I don't know a lot yet. it's in ground. lol
 
I don't close my pool. Once the water gets into the 60s I turn off my SWG and switch to bleach for the winter. Chlorine consumption drops significantly in colder water. As Jim says your pool will be closed for most or all of that time anyway.
